Club Captains Report

I believe we are nearly ready for the biggest Mini event ever held in Australia. It is expected that as many as 20 Minis are being driven or trailered from Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and North Queensland. A large contingent of Mini Racing Legends are also attending from all over the country to show their skills in the sprints around Lakeside being organised by Glen Carpenter and his team. Our Mini 40 guests from last year, Bob Holden and his partner Colleen, have also confirmed that they will be attending. Bob will be bringing his newly restored Mk1 Cooper S with him for its first official run. Have a good trip to Brisbane Bob, we are looking forward to seeing you again.

The Mini2000 Show-n-Shine team, headed by John Heselwood and Dave Perkins are well and truly ready for the best showcase of Minis of the year 2000. It is anticipated half of the 400 plus Minis expected to attend will enter in the spectacular event, so if you are thinking about entering your baby in the show, start polishing the car and post in your entry now.

We still need club members to assist with the setting up, parking, ticketing, merchandise sales, BBQ etc plus the many other jobs to be done during the day. Please attend our MINI2000 special meeting on Tuesday 6 June to finalise the rosters. Your participation will make our day more pleasant and enjoyable for everyone.

The day run to Mooloolaba on the Saturday is shaping to be very exciting with many of the interstate visitors attending. The southside group will meet at McDonalds, Logan Rd Upper Mt Gravatt for breakfast and depart for Ettamogah Pub at 8.45am sharp to meet the northside group who will meet at McDonalds at Gympie Rd Aspley and depart at 9.30am sharp. Special breakfast vouchers will be available on the morning as well as half price tickets to visit Underwater World at Mooloolaba. (See Bob Ward @ Southside and Tony Formosa @ Northside).
